The 3 basic ways I’ve found to make money
online are as follows:
- Build/program a site that sells information somehow
(this is how I was able to stay home with my last site called SelfStorageDeals.com.
In it’s simplest form, the site allowed people looking for
storage to fill out a free quote request form (fill out one form
get multiple quotes) and then we would turn around and sell that
“lead” to storage companies who had facilities in that
area. You sell each lead for several dollars and you do it several
hundred times per day and you’ve got a winning formula.
The drawback is you have to know how to program, you have to find
the right industry and you have to sell the solution to the clients
(in my case the storage companies). THEN after you’ve done
all that, you have to invoice, run reports, do collections, fix
problems…all that. It’s a great way to make money, but
only if you have a team and know how to program….since that
doesn’t fit with your needs, let’s move on…
- The second way to make money I’ve found
is to sell things on eBay. There are ebooks, videos
and many other web sites that will show you exactly how to do this
step by step and in addition to that many will show you how to make
the most money from each auction. You should invest in or research
these if this is the route you think you want to go.
WE RECOMMEND...
One video that I can recommend fully is AuctionSecrets
by John Reese. In this video you will learn the step-by-step,
time-tested and perfected Selling Formula that you
will follow anytime you sell an item on eBay. |
Selling on eBay can make you some decent money, especially if you
can find, make or outlet the right product. And in most cases the
startup funds required are almost nil. Especially if you sell things
you make or information.
Here is a site that gives you some great information on what to
sell: What
Do I Sell.com. This is a great place to start for finding products
and another one is The
Drop Ship Source Directory (I’ve used this one and it
is awesome).
The other cool way to get into eBay with no startup funds required
is called drop shipping. Drop shipping simply refers
to the process of buying a product at near wholesale cost from a
distributor that has agreed to ship it to your customer on your
behalf. The customer never knows the distributor was involved.
The best part here is that you don’t have to buy the product
before you sell it…you simply take the photos and description
from the distributor and put them up on eBay and then when someone
buys it and pays you (i.e. you already have the money from them
for the product) you buy it for less than you sold it for and have
it sent to them. The
Drop Ship Source Directory is a great place to find vendors
that drop ship for you.
Drawbacks to eBay are:
- a considerable time commitment (to make decent money would
take you at least 10-30 hours per week),
- the fact that the market is so cutthroat on price (I’ll
describe that later), and to really make this thing full time
or substantial you almost have to start buying wholesale pallets
of products and storing them until the stuff is sold. The upside
to that though is that if you can’t sell the merchandise
on eBay you can always take it to the local flea market and
get rid of it there.
- The third great way to make money online is, in
my opinion, one of the best long term solutions to generating revenue
streams online. I’ll call it AdSense/Affiliate Content Sites.
The high level concept is this:
- Research niches, keywords, phrases that people are searching
on…
this in essence is the process of finding out what people want so
that you can give it to them; part of the research will include
deciding if the terms are searched on enough or too much, if the
competition is too fierce (too much or too established…more
on this later), and also if you already know something about this
topic…it’s always best to start with something you already
know a lot about.
The tool I’d recommend for this is free. It’s called
Good Keywords and you can get a copy here: http://www.goodkeywords.com/
- Write lots of good content/articles
that are keyword/phrase rich (3-5% keyword density based on the
above research)
- Put the content/articles on a web site
or a section of a web site (preferably a dedicated site)
- Submit the site/pages to the search engines
for the keywords you’ve researched
- Get Site Ranked
Search engines LOVE content…good, high quality, no strings
attached, free information. Because of this, the site will eventually
(in 3-6 months usually) start ranking well for the keywords/phrases
and bringing in traffic and visitors;
- Get Traffic/Visitors
Because you’re ranking well for decent keywords people are
searching on, you will start to get traffic and people will read
the free content, trust will be built up and you will make money
on them clicking on the adsense ads as well as recommending products
and services and sending them to your affiliate links/sites.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
This is by NO MEANS a get rich quick automatic plan for success. You
will NOT make $10,000 in the next 24 hours…if you do, teach
me what you did!
HOWEVER it only takes a little bit of money being made on several
web sites to make a big impact. For example, let’s pretend you
could make $7.50 per day on 10 sites like this. You’d be making
$2,250 per month! That’s substantial income for not selling
anything, not answering any emails, not programming anything and working
only once when you write the articles. These sites will then make
you money day in, day out for the rest of your life. Pretty good deal
if you ask me. Passive, residual income is the key to real
wealth building; online or off.
Another important benefit to this is that if one income stream (one
Content Site) dies or dries up for any reason you have many more where
that came from to take up the slack. You’re not tied to one
income stream…HUGE. THAT is security, at least if you ask me.
Not in working ONE job that if I lose or the company goes out of business,
I can’t feed my family.
One last way to earn some money online is the concept of setting up affiliate sites that don't focus on content, but focus rather on building a list.
An example of this can be seen at: Dog Behavior Training Site. Look for more on how this is done in the near future!
Ok, done with my rant/teaching.
The most important thing you need to do next is THINK! Think long
and hard about which if any of these methods for making money online
suits your personality, time constraints and skill sets. If you want
to sell on eBay it’s a quicker more meaningful profit upfront,
but more work is involved and there will be slightly more risk. If
you’d rather get started on the content web sites we can help
you there too.
Content Sites Startup Procedure...
Unless you know how to build a simple web site, promote it to the
search engines effectively and program it so the search engines will
love it, I suggest you look into the following as a next step if you've
decided to get started on the AdSense Content Site.
We've recently found a product called SiteSell/SiteBuildIt
(go here and check it out). The pluses to this are too numerous to
list, however I’ll give you a few.
This will teach you completely, step-by-step, how to do what I’m
suggesting here. It will give you EVERY single tool you need to do
all the things you need to not only research just the right niche,
but also to build the site AND get it ranked well in the search engines
(this alone is worth the cost). The shear amount of information you
get when you sign up is something that would take me weeks to teach
you one on one and you can learn it all right from your own home.
The drawback if there is one is that it’s $299/year (which
is cheap for web hosting, domain name registration and site building
tools) but you have to pay for it up front. It comes with a money
back guarantee as well. If you have the ability to make that
happen, then I HIGHLY suggest it as way for you to get started TODAY!
So bottom line is this. Think it over, and decide which way you think
is for you. It is possible to make some money and even a healthy living
online. Just put your mind to getting started right away and working
at it a little every day and soon enough you'll be right where you
want to be!
